I saw this movie last Friday and I can't stop thinking about it. My husband and I have been arguing about it since It was nice to find a movie that we both wanted to watch . It really gets in your brain. Misconduct is not predictable at all, which is refreshing these days...I love a good surprise. Alice Eve was amazing! But that's all I'll say about that. Anthony Hopkins is as creepy as ever, Al's southern accent is spot on and Josh is a hunk. Josh aside, this movie is visually stunning. If you paused this movie at any time and then made a print from that still, you could <more>
Excellent Film. A must see for the thinking film-goer. (by dbs323)
I really loved this movie. It was suspenseful and dark with twists that were very unpredictable, which I love. There were great visually stylistic scenes which made it stunning to watch. It was artfully directed and the story kept me on the edge of my seat. Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins, as usual, made me wonder what they were thinking behind every line of dialogue . Terrific! And a surprise ending. Very skillfully done! This is a movie that involves the participation of the audience. In a way, you are the detective looking at the evidence presented to you... as it comes. I love a movie that <more>
doesn't spoon feed you baby food, but has the gonads to make you think and work to chew that steak. Watch with intelligence, drink some coffee, and enjoy. 10 out of 10 stars. I highly recommend this film to any serious film goer.
Go see this movie, especially for the story. Good thrillers are hard to come by, and the camera work, particularly the shot selection the performances particularly Alice Eve make this movie a really exciting film noir and so worth seeing. And let's all be honest: whatever films people think Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins should be making, they are versatile, essential actors who bring their A-game to this movie like they always do. They are simply enchanting to watch on the screen. The pace is solid, the locations New Orleans are rich and enticing. There are certain shots where we <more>
are begging to see what is in the next frame, and having to wait for that, and then getting to see what the actor is seeing, is a huge payoff. This is also a morality tale--what is right and wrong? Is it black and white? No. We all have secrets, we all have flaws, and this movie does a great job of showing a flawed hero trying to make things right. Go see it! Watch it on iTunes! I really enjoyed this.
Exquisitely stlized with a star studded cast (by mktanks)
What a movie - the style of it and the way it looked was exquisite, really. The scenes were poetic in that they were mostly shot from behind, out of view and with a sense of urgency that brought forward the viewers attention. The realism and yet twisted and maddening build through the film was delicate and at the same time, urgent and forceful. The talented director, the tasteful cinematography, award winning actors, beautiful musical score and minimalism and tasteful wardrobe - I felt this sense of simplicity and clarity followed by a stlized turn of events that culminates the film. Pretty good ride and was worth every minute! (by mikipetreskii)
First I wanna say that after reading most of the reviews about this movie, I couldn't help but laugh on almost all of them. Do not read them because none of them understood the movie and they all talk about the actors and their "bad" acting. What you must know is that this movie requires your FULL attention! So leave your pop-corns, phone and everything else that can distract you, if you want to fully enjoy and understand this incredibly crafted movie. This is drama/thriller where the rules of the casual movies doesn't apply here. The time-line is all messed up, so you have to <more>
keep up with it and connect the dots. Otherwise you will miss important clues and parts to complete the story in the end. You won't get the point served on plate. You gotta earn it, and that is what I love about this move! It's nothing complicated if you are focused and think while watching. It's awesome actually, because it keeps you guessing, waiting, wanting more, feeling on edge even tho it's drama. The script is beautifully done, the actors incredible, the music awesome, the camera great, and etc etc."Misconduct" is about an old billionaire who has a young girlfriend, there is an lawyer and the company where he works, the wife of the lawyer, and supporting characters. Beside the great acting, these actors and the director shows you the real deal, the unemotional ruthless people who are wild and ready to do anything for their goal and not care about anything but themselves.Till the half of the movie, you will go forth and back in the story. At first it's confusing but then its easy to follow it up. You will find yourself in a chaos of questions but as the time passes the truth will reveal slowly and you will be satisfied at the end, if you are focused of course. To keep it short, I rated this "Misconduct" with 8/10 because of the end that didn't surprised me. I wanted to be shocked and got even more question and think like crazy about the movie, but sadly it didn't happened because I predicted it long before the end. I love this genre of movies and they have pattern, so I know how they are being developed, their story.Anyway, I'd recommend this movie to anyone with the nerves to stay tight and focused on the movie and use their brain instead of eating pop-corns and drinking soda! :
Solid thriller with good performances and great visuals (by OhU2)
OK, so some of these reviews are misleading. This film is a thriller and it delivers a story that suits that genre. If you don't like thrillers you won't like this film but if you like legal thrillers then this is definitely a solid film. What's to like:1. Great direction. After so many films that are either static or infused with shaky cam Misconduct delivers camera work that keeps the viewers riveted. There are things we intentionally don't see while the camera glides through the murky underworld of houses and neighborhood. The production design allows to see neighborhoods <more>
and locations we're not used to seeing. The use of shadows, during the day and night times, adds so much to all the drama that's unfolding on the screen. Again this is all due to the direction. 2. The performances were all around solid. I've only seen Duhamel in Transformers and Scenic Route and didn't think much of either of those movies but he's got some serious chops in this flick. Pacino's reined in. Ackerman is the best I've seen her and I liked her in Watchmen . Alice Eve was really good and added a lot to what some might find a limited role, Byung-hun was bad ass but probably the role I liked the most was Doug the friend/coworker. He's just all exposition and that can always grind things to a halt but Glen Powell brought that stuff to life. 3. Really liked the music. It was evocative of Body Heat in hits crescendoes. 4.The Cinematography was one of the stars of the show. The slithering camera really helped amp up the tension and paranoia in a lot of scenes. The lighting and shadows gave us this film a noir feel. 5. The locations were great since it wasn't another film that was made in the few American states that always pop in the movies: it's not NY or CA or Texas or North Carolina. 5. Pace was tight and the film never dragged which is what you in ANY movie but especially a thriller. What's not to like:1. There are story details that were completely unnecessary like the Hit-man's medical issues. It doesn't tie into the story. 2. The shock ending would have been more plausible if we had seen some indication earlier on of that complete reversal. 3. It would have been nice to have Hopkins and Pacino be in more scenes together. They're only in one. Face to face. 4. The female characters 5. I really like Julia Stiles but I feel like she was miscast here and their was some credibility issues with how her character pops up at the film's denouement. Overall I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. If you like films like Body Heat, Sea of Love, The Last Seduction or other thrillers you will like this
a film for grown-ups that really stays with you (by moviemanager1977)
This movie is 100% worth it - I don't get why it didn't receive a wide release! The plot moves like crazy, and I'm confidant in saying that you'll never guess the twists or see the final revelations coming. The look of it is neat too. Very classy, very 70s noir - lots kept in the wide and a very stately feel to the whole thing. All the actors showed up to work in a big way too, especially Hopkins, Malin Akerman, and Chris Marquette. Sits below The Firm alongside thrillers like The Lincoln Lawyer and Runaway Jury. My wife and I watched it last weekend and are still thinking <more>
about it through this week, which is no bad thing! Wholeheartedly recommend.
