Never fail to be entertained by Vince Vaughan and Kevin James (by jessie-39)
My wife and I see over 100 movies a year, having been in the business and now retired. WE DO NOT READ ANY REVIEWS BY ANYONE. WE TRY TO TELL OUR FRIENDS THAT A CRITIC IS ONE PERSON, HE OR SHE IS NOT US. Critics are also a dying breed as newspapers disappear. Therefore, our critique is not biased and based on actually seeing the movie in a theatre. Many critics see the movies 5 at a time in a viewing room. Not a real atmosphere to gauge audience reaction. How can you review a movie without the real deal? Another screw the critics movie. It is extremely funny and dark at times but Vaughan and <more>
James and the ladies Wyona Rider and Jennifer Connelly make a wonderful evening out. We enjoyed it, a great way to spend two hours and so screw the fake critics.
I expected this movie to be a cheesy romantic comedy, so I was pleasantly surprised. If you enjoy movies that focus on the dynamic between two close friends and like people who act a little crazy, you'll like this. I laughed constantly, but that's probably just me.Most people will get some chuckles out of it. The movie has some emotional moments in it so that the slapstick and cruder jokes don't get too monotonous, but you walk out laughing, not thinking about its meaning. It's not the kind of movie that you can, say, write ten lines about thanks a lot, IMDb . If you liked <more>
"I love you, man", "Pineapple Express", "The Hangover", you'll enjoy this film's light-heartedness and its relateable characters.
Things can get tricky when you keep something to yourself (by Roaarry)
The Dilemma is an entertaining comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. Both of these actors do have a habit of appearing in comedies, particularly ones that involve a love story. "The Dilemma" isn't much different to anything either of them have starred in before, but I found the story enjoyable and original. If you appreciate Vince Vaughn and Kevin James as actors you'll enjoy this film and I did feel they had a great chemistry. Critics have been slating the film with bad reviews and I have to say it's exaggeration at its finest. The film definitely isn't <more>
perfect and does have its flaws but I would say it's unfair to call it unbearable. The story shows Nick James and Ronny Vaughn as best friends. They have both known each other since they were in college and are currently business partners in an auto design firm. They are in the development of launching their company until a dilemma strikes Ronny. He catches Nicks wife kissing a man whilst in the process of planning to propose to his girlfriend. This leaves him shocked and angry so he decides to investigate the situation and attempts to develop evidence. This turns into absolute madness and Ronny soon discovers that the secrets in their relationship aren't as genuine as Nick and his wife portray. The film is directed by Ron Howard, and he has had a great reputation in his career so far. I seem to be one of the few people that isn't angered by Ron Howard for directing this and I don't see him selling out by doing so. The Dilemma is very different to his previous work and I can only imagine he wanted to do something more diverse. The film is entertaining and it's the type of film that people want to watch, it's simple and easy to follow. With a cast that involves Vince Vaughn and Kevin James it motivates people to watch it.If you're looking for a comedy and expect to be in hysterics throughout the entire film this probably isn't the greatest one to watch. Multiple scenes made me chuckle but I did not find myself laughing out loud at any stage. I thought the story was quite interesting and very realistic. It represents an occurrence that happens in everyday life. I think that's the main reason I was intrigued by it. The characters played by Vince Vaughn and Kevin James also seemed very genuine, but they are almost identical to previous characters they've portrayed before. However, there are very few actors who do play diverse characters. I guess if you've proved you can act convincingly as a certain type of character, you'll be casted for similar roles in the future. I did enjoy "The Dilemma" and I felt it was worth watching. It's amusing in parts and I did feel relaxed and able to follow the rather simplistic plot. There are many films that create that kind of reaction from me though, so it's difficult to say it's outstanding. I would be lying if I said I wasn't entertained nevertheless.
This is not a comedy, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. (by ferreira0665)
I think it was wrong to advertise this as a comedy. It was not. But I felt it was real. The argument that those two women wouldn't be interested in these two people is ridiculous argument. Its done in Movies all the time. But this really was NOT a comedy. I think people are giving the movie a bad rap mainly for that reason. Not because it was a bad movie. Yes it made your stomach upset but that is because it was an uncomfortable movie. I gave a 9 out of 10 because it wasn't perfect. But it was damn good. Vince Vaughn actually impressed me here. He usually plays an obnoxious prick. He <more>
was still kind of obnoxious but we got to see his human side as well which we don't see very often in his movies. This movie was about the friendship of two best friends and "the dilemma" you can be put in when you find out the best friend's wife is cheating. How do you really break it to them. Its not just like a girlfriend. That may be easier to do. But a wife, and you know its gonna hurt.
it was excellent! i honestly couldn't stop laughing throughout. Channing Tatum was particularly funny and Vince Vaughn of course. it mixed both hilarious and sad emotions together which made the film. Also being a love story there was comical fighting between both Channing Tatum and Vince Vaughn. Kevin James, who was the 'Best Friend' of Vince Vaughn played his character very well, he's passionate about his work and we see how that effects his marriage. Jennifer Connely and Winona Ryder were the wives, Ryder being James' other half and Connely being Vaughns. We come across <more>
a numerous amount of problems/ decisions in the film, one being how he vaughn should tell his best friend james that his wife was cheating, and proposing to his Vaughn partner connely and many more. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend to the public. 9/10
This comedy is pretty much a film carried by the talents of the excellent Mr Vince Vaughan anyone who has seen Dodge Ball, Starsky and Hutch or the The Wedding Crashers will know Mr Vaughan to be a talented comedic actor. The film does not completely deliver on storyline and becomes some what formulaic in this genre i.e it doesn't do anything notably different but it does entertain, its not rip roaringly funny but It provides an enjoyable ride. Also great to see Jennifer Connolly and Winona Ryder both still youthful and looking 15 years younger than there husbands. A film worth seeing, <more>
well yes - Who cares were they spent the 70 million.
Part Comedy/Part Drama- Entertaining to the say the least (by JapanGaijin)
Many will go into this movie expecting a roll on the floor comedy since Vince Vaughn and Kevin James are the leads. There are a lot of funny moments in this movie that will have you laughing out loud if you like the Vince Vaughn brand of humor of getting under people's skin.Queen Latifah is hilarious in this movie too and was actually a breath of fresh air to make up for Kevin James who was a little more on the serious side in this movie. Most movies he tends to be either the clumsy or naive part.I won't get into the whole plot because you know it and have seen the trailer a million <more>
times. The whole moral of the story is what would you do if you caught your best friend's wife cheating. Do you have the tenacity to tell your best friend or just sweep it under the carpet? Movie overall is good, acting is great, and fun to watch. A little on the long side but a good date movie. 8/10
Ron Howard's best comedy since Parenthood (by Bravesfan17)
Ron Howard has been successful in entertaining me and making good movies, and you can add The Dilemma to a list that also includes Frost/Nixon, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, Cinderella Man, and Parenthood. He does another great job on directing this bromance comedy, making this his best comedy since Parenthood. The story is a brilliant one that I like. It shows how one friend is going through the trouble of whether or not to tell his best friend that his wife has been cheating on him. The story continues to stay funny thanks to the witty script by Allan Loeb and Howard's directing.Howard <more>
has put together an excellent cast led by Vince Vaughn. Vaughn stars as Ronny Valentine, who runs a car business with his best friend, Nick played by Kevin James . Vaughn does sometimes do his usual kind of acting like he has pulled off in Wedding Crashers and Dodgeball, but he makes that work to his advantage. Vaughn gives a hilarious performance where he makes you compassionate in what he is going through.James is great as Nick, and shows that he still as talent as a comedy actor. James makes you feel bad for him even though he doesn't know what is really going on with Ronny.Jennifer Connelly and Winona Ryder are both also great as they are Vaughn's and James's female counterparts. Connelly shows how sweet she makes Beth when she shows her love and concern for Ronny. Connelly makes Beth out to be a very affectionate and loving girlfriend. Ryder gives a hilarious turn as Geneva, Nick's wife. What I like best about Ryder's performance is that she makes Geneva out to be the bad one and is hilarious at threatening Ronny.Overall, this is a fun comedy that continues to be funny as Ronny keeps getting himself into bigger and bigger trouble. What I liked best about The Dilemma is how Ron Howard is able to keep interest in his storytelling and to keep it funny. Howard shows that he is one of the best directors out there and can do any kind of movie.
It is beyond me why this movie is rated at merely 4.9/10. I could agree that this is more of a drama then a comedy, although it has its funny moments. This is actually very good movie, well acted, a movie that makes you think about love and friendship, about who are the people in your life you can really, I mean really trust. This movie tells a story about how tough sometimes can be to be truly honest to people who mean the most to you.As I was reading how people criticized the movie, I could agree with certain points, but not with the critic that this was a bad movie. Because it wasn't, <more>
