| I recently went to see the debut of Hatchet in NYC, and it was great: a perfect mix of graphic violence and comedy that had me screaming, cheering, cringing and laughing out loud from beginning to end. Writer/director Adam Green is the real deal, not trying to make a quick buck by following the latest box office trends. This movie pays homage to the classic horror movies Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Candyman, etc. , and Green does it with class and wit. | This movie is possibly the best new, original, non-zombie horror film to come out over the last 5 years the best new, original, zombie oriented flick being Shaun of the Dead . Hatchet is SO good. I saw it the last night it was in the Tribeca Film Festival and it was greatso great, that watching other horror films now just make me sigh with anxiety over the fact that it might never be released on DVD. | WOW. This Green guy can really deliver. I cant believe he was able to pull this together and get it all done in such a short span of time. The boat scene in the beginning...Old school horror... Englund and new age horror Blair witch proj comes together in a skillful masterpiece. I saw the showing in Tribeca on Sunday eve. I was delighted to see that old school horror is still alive and kicking. Blood and gore the way it was once brilliantly designed is back again. | Yea I was skeptical. Yes I was armed, ready to scrutinize. Yes over-hyped movies have a tendency to disappoint. But, and this is a Patricka Darbo sized BUT, you just cannot deny a film that is fun. I know reviews are mixed but I loved it. Hatchet just plain works for me. Gratuitous nudity check , extreme gore check , laugh out loud funny check , horror legends check , over the top, cheesy acting check .If you love the days when horror was fun, you will love this film. | I went to a screening of Hatchet this past summer. I saw a listing for it on the Fangoria website, and, although I didn't really know what to expect, I headed down to see it. As a rabid fan of 80's horror movies, the thought of a movie that was a throwback to the slasher films of my youth seemed really promising. Let me tell you, Hatchet did not disappoint. I can honestly say that in 22 years of watching horror movies, I have rarely seen one that offered gore this intense and inventive. | i just saw this movie at a pre-release in Boston.it was freaking amazing!!! i loved it... it has all that needs to be in a great horror movie: gore, tits, unlikely hero, the random comedy, and the occasional unorthodox weapon.it brings back the old style of horror movie without re-making one or just doing a sequel. as the film industry keeps doing as of late. and it creates an actual horror villain. not just an evil person doing evil things.in my opinion hatchet will go down in history as one of the great horror classics. |

| I absolutely loved this film when I saw it at FrightFest. It really did pay homage to old slashers with inventive deaths and blood by the gallon! ! !If you like old fashion "mental on the loose" horror films then this film has more "in-jokes" than you can shake a stick at. Not only that but the director was a really nice guy who really did seem to be a fan as opposed to a Director who says he's a fan and then buggers off straight after the screening Adam stayed for pretty much the whole festival! ! ! .Go check it out when it finally get's released, I hope it comes <more> |

| Do fun and horror really mix together? This movie proves that they do mix up together with the added bonus that you can get a really fun slasher out of that, too! There's not much story to follow swamp expedition goes wrong , but that's not the point here. You have crazy but adorable or at least likable characters here, that are fully aware of their role. Which just means, that nobody takes himself seriously in this movie and that adds to the great fun you can have, while watching this. The old "B&B" Boobs & Blood formula suits this movie well! | Wow! Hatchet premiered at the Tribecca Film Festival in NYC and it more than lived up to my expectations. Victor Crowley is a juggernaut! I've never seen a horror film with such gruesome kills; many done with his bare hands!!! He'd pull Jason Voorhees limb from limb without even breaking a sweat. Someone taught the secrets of a fine Scotch whisky to Kane Hodder because this man just gets better with age. I'm not easily sold on high-speed character development, but within five minutes of meeting each, Marcus Deon Richmond and Marybeth Tamara Feldman could virtually leap from <more> |
