Enjoyable (by flak509) |
It was good and keeps very true to fantasy orcs look more like orcs than in LOTR, the ghome is also well made. The orc and elf maiden do well, the paladin seems a bit off but it all works out for me somehow. It proves it possible to make a movie with small budget and perhaps experience, it can lead to bigger things. Just remember Braindead haha. Good strong start with the fight scene, Nemyt kicks some goblin ass.Danielle Chuchran stands out for me in this movie, perhaps minus the spitting haha very much like an elf maiden warrioress should be, small quick and deadly. To me a good depictionThe <more> |
Hot chick + great fighting + actual effort ! (by greenviking) |
Awesome. As good as cheap gets, in my opinion.Admittedly, the rating is overwhelmingly due to the chick protagonist because 1 she's hot, 2 she's hot in a slightly exotic way, and 3 she puts on better fight choreography than just about anybody I've seen in *any* movie, low budget or not. Casting above & beyond the rest, really. As for the rest of the movie, at least serious effort was made to make it look good... in fact, much of it was just plain beautiful. Which kind of kills the rationalizations that people are making for some of the sub-par crap being wheeled out in the <more> |
Just wow! How a good movie can rise from nowhere! (by siderite) |
You know when you play some fantasy game and you have the mythical creatures, the complex script, the compelling battles and you think to yourself "If only they would make movies like that!". That's exactly how Curse of the Shadow feels! The movie starts with a battle between a dragon riding Orc shaman and an Elven bounty huntress. There are no moving camera effects, no cheesy dialogues, no pompous and ridiculous fighting like in Xena, but a fight that is believable and lasts for more than five minutes. I knew I was going to like this movie just from the attention that this first <more> |
I loved this hidden gem (by johnwayne3018) |
For the life of me I can not understand the low rating this movie has. If you loath all the CGI over the top Movies. This movie is for you. If you prefer characters in really good costumes. This movie is for you. If you prefer monsters that fight back. This movie is for you. If you prefer really good fight scenes. This movie is for you.Hands down one of my favorite movie finds of the year. It blends great fight scenes with a lot of different races and considering it had a smidget of the Lord of the BORING's budget, it still produced a far better movie.PLEASE MAKE A SEQUEL!!! |
Nice surprise (by gsweinhart) |
I'll keep this short and sweet. A very nice surprise of a movie. I started watching expecting the usual B movie costumes, photography etc. but it far exceeded my expectations. Beautiful scenery, clear, lovely color and the makeup and costumes, while perhaps not quite up to "major Hollywood" production standards, were very good. The acting and dialog was also better than the usual B movie. The fight scenes, of which there are many, were very well choreographed. We've all seen fight scenes that just look SO fake that it's almost painful to watch. No so in this movie. OK, <more> |
Very entertaining Fantasy B-Movie. (by sven-49-694776) |
"Don't expect a blockbuster" ... that is the main comment I have read now in the last days about SAGA. That is true, but you should simply not care, if you like Fantasy and Independent Films like me. With the low budget I would really like to know how much it was? the producers did a great job. Arrowstorm Entertainment and Mainstay Productions are small companies: They are making movies for fans, all sorts of short movies in different genres and offer young talents a chance to contribute their ideas. Originally SAGA was considered as a Webseries and they did a short movie, <more> |
Better than most Hollywood movies (by proxy55) |
This movie was surprisingly good. The story is relatively simple, but the interesting characters especially the orc, Kullimon, "ha ha ha" along with great music and pictures made it work. It's not as "shiny" and overdone as Hollywood products and I think that's its biggest strength. Special effects which are very good for a low budget production were kept to the scenes where it makes sense and not used carelessly. The landscape and scenery are so much better than anything you're used to from big movies, because it's actually real and not 50% CGI. It <more> |
"They cursed the wrong Elf." (by Wiedergaenger) |
I visit IMDb for several years, but this is the first film I really feel the urge to comment on around here. I stumbled about "Dragon Lore/Curse of the Shadow/The Shadow Cabal" by pure chance I think it was the lead Elf's iconic mask that initially caught my attention .The story itself isn't something to write home about, but isn't inferior to the stuff one gets served in most of the shiny Hollywood productions either. A High Elven bounty hunter, a human cleric/paladin and an Orc war chief team up -- more or less reluctantly -- to defeat the malevolent Order of the <more> |
