I am surprised at the comments that I have read so far that suggest this is a boring or mediocre movie. All that I know is that I am a 46 year old married mother, and I just spent 90 minutes laughing out loud too loud sometimes and smiling. I can imagine that if you are easily offended by fart or "shart" jokes or the shiny hiney's of Ben Stiller or Hank Azaria, you may not like this movie. But really, then, why would you go in the first place? I was definitely not bored. The characters were all so much fun- the kind of creepy boss, the obnoxious but extremely lovable best <more>
friend, the risk expert who finds something to worry about in any situation, the goofy, scatterbrained ferret- owning waitress/creepy children's book author, the australian who likes to free fall off of tall buildings, the priceless scuba instructor, and the very cute salsa dancer. Anyway, I loved it , and I'll probably even go see it again.
Hilarious movie with excellent play from Ben Stiller... Ben Stiller plays a "Risk analyst" and he is the most cautious man on earth, quote: "you don't eat mixed nuts on a bar everybody knows that" and "I don't take the subway home because you a 1 to 45000 risk to get into a serious accident" and the first day of his honeymoon his wife cheats on him...And along came Polly, an old friend from school. And Polly isn't quite the one she used to be... Sure there are many clichés but that isn't really important. Mr.Deeds meets What women want... A lot <more>
of funny scenes... Jennifer Aniston as Polly Prince Ben Stiller as Reuben Feffer10/10 Grrrrrrrrrreat movie
I went to see this movie with an open mind, thinking another silly comedy, no it is not that. "Along came Polly" is just plain funny from beginning to end. It has been a long time since a movie makes me laugh so much. I needed that! may be, we do not get emotionally involved with the main characters, but it is as well, we all went through the kind of experiences that Reuben lives, and I don't have the need to feel them again, I know ... and, this is what makes the movie hilarious. Alec Baldwin is totally surprising, I won't say more...The movie theatre was jammed packed, at <more>
the end, the audience erupted with a huge bravo and cheers. A movie not to miss : "Along came Polly" is a 10+!
I heard this movie was a hard sell, which is probably why I ended up enjoying it so thoroughly. The movie is far from perfect the talented cast is somewhat misdirected - but it's their talent, along with the hilarious circumstances that unfold throughout the film's neat 90 min running time, which keeps the film moving and the laughter rolling. Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston strike a nice contrast as the fated couple united by a hysterical comedy of errors. Philip Seymour Hoffman is wonderful as Stiller's pitiful and only friend and confidant. And Alec Baldwin steals every <more>
scene in which he appears would love to see him do more comedy .I am not easily offended by bathroom humor quite the opposite, I think it's funny when pulled off right. Whenever I read viewers complaining about so-called 'gross-out humor' or "toilet bowl comedy", I am genuinely confused. When the hell did we get so uptight? Fart jokes and bedroom humor have comprised some of the funniest scenes ever filmed Jeff Daniels in "Dumb & Dumber" or "Chris Tucker" in Friday, for example . I'd recommend this harmless and enjoyable movie to my mother toilet humor, and all! .
Solid belly laughs in this one, and a fantastic supporting cast (by SDAim)
I first saw this movie several years ago -- not in the theatre, but pretty soon after it went to DVD. I have now watched it several times in its entirety, and it seems when I'm flipping channels and it's on Showtime or HBO, I'll tune in for a few minutes and then get hooked again. Oh my god, Philip Seymour Hoffman is worth it alone -- between the sharting, the basketball game, and the community theatre presentation of "Jesus Christ Superstar", I am a wheezing mess by the end of this film from laughing so hard. And, every time I watch it, I appreciate someone else's <more>
performance, or see some added nuance that I might have missed before. I think this is Ben Stiller's best film by far. It will remain a classic in our household for years to come.
Although i never really related to Ben Stiller's character, who needs to, this film is great fun. Aniston puts in a good performance, and Seymour Hoffman steals the show as the dating guide / best friend to Stiller's risk assessor main character pretty much the same character as Gaylord Focker from meet the parents .his film requires little thought, but it is always good to sit back and enjoy a film that is just plain stupid, and this makes u laugh like a Hyena in places. An ideal time filler, or a Rom-Com for guys who wish to woo!! Enjoy.....
Entertaining and very funny (by butchfilms)
I can't believe it that this film has such a low rate of 5.8 in IMDb, this movie deserves at least a rating of 7 stars.Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston are very good in here, and there is very good chemistry between them too. Philip Seymour Hoffman is very funny in his supporting role of once a very well known child actor. The plot is entertaining and has many moments that will make you laugh.Reuben Feffer Stiller is a insurance actuary who has just been left by his wife for another man in their honeymoon. Back home he will meet Polly Prince Aniston , a free spirit former classmate, <more>
with whom he will begin dating but they will have problems when they realize that they are very different and Reuben's wife comes back ...... This is the kind of movie to just watch and enjoy and not being so demanding because the main goal of this film is just to be funny.8 stars very good
Grossly underrated and unappreciated! (by tonywebman)
Perhaps only those who can truly recognize the comedic talents of Ben Stiller should watch this movie. The plot and additional actors were really only there to provide a context for Ben to showcase his particular style of comedy. He does what he does best by playing the average guy who continually gets sand kicked in his face but keeps on struggling ahead despite the odds... with often disastrous and hilarious results. Jennifer Aniston looked great as the sexy but strange girlfriend however she didn't have to do too much other than look good. This is a diamond in the rough for Ben Stiller <more>
This film is amusing and worth watching, in spite of two very obvious and significant shortcomings: 1 it stars Ben Stiller playing a character almost - exactly - like - every - other - character - he - has - ever - played - on - television - or - on - film; and 2 it co-stars Jennifer Anniston playing a character almost - exactly - like - every - other - character - she - has - ever - played - on - television - or - on - film. That it is worth watching is high testimony as to the likableness both of these actors convey in all their roles and by their personalities both on- and <more>
off-screen.Philip Hoffman is often hilarious as the also likable pompous and nerdy, combined no small feat for an actor small-time actor in the plot - one who knows-it-all and knows little at the same time.Hank Azaria adds to any production in which he appears, as do Debra Messing, Byran Brown and Alec Baldwin. The remainder of the supporting cast does well also. Michele Lee is hilarious as Stiller's mom, despite being on-screen only briefly. Good 8* in spite of the above.
