I LOVED THE WAY SHE ROSE UP AGAINST AN ABUSER ,AND THIS WILL BRING ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT WOMEN AND MEN CAN GET HELP AND NOT TO BE ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT GREAT MOVIE
Powerful (by moorestahl)
One very tense and powerful movie from start to finish.
Healing and Heartbreaking (by farmerdada)
This movie is how the after effects of abuse. Just because you left/got away/ escaped, doesn't mean the physical and mental and emotional scars leave you. They lesson with time to an extent but as a survivor if that's even a way to describe the after . This is head on. It's not pretty but it's not meant to be.
Jaw dropping performance by Olivia Wilde (by carolrubi)
When came upon this film I didn't expect Wilde's mind-blowing performance. Her portrayal of Sadie, a domestic abuse survivor, was so raw and vulnerable but at the same time incredibly powerful. It truly showed the truth behind the saying, you don't know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have. Dagger managed to capture moments that didn't stay far away from reality. It showed real and true emotion.
Darn good acting! (by ScottDWhalen)
Olivia Wilde as Sadie dose an amazingly GOOD JOB acting out her emotions it actually made me feel like she was really going through it. This is the type of movie that shows the power of a womans heart & mind. Not a full action movie, but shows revenge can be bitter sweet when done right. The deserving acts forced upon the ignorance of those who think cruelty is a way of control. A lot of people get away with this, but honestly those who r victims of it should try to stand out & speak up. Those who do use this type of cruelty should be punished by all means. There is a difference <more>
between Domestic Violence & Domestic Abuse none should even exist, but they do.
Incredible performance and well worth the watch...especially for men (by quintonjonesphotography)
Not sure how this is only at 5.4 on IMDB...the acting and directing of this was outstanding. Truly incredible on both fronts.Sure the story had hiccups and the ending may have been predictable at times but overall this was a heart wrenching and riveting story that needed to be told.I loved it.It really should be required viewing for all, men especially.Scary to think how many people don't even believe this shot happens to people...
Olivia Wilde was made for this (by lizshotter-19401)
It's great to see a film that deals with such subject matter in such a stark and realistic way. Films like peppermint do little to elevate tired approaches of women fighting back, as they're so unrealistic they're laughable, but this film is so different to that. Olivia Wilde shines in this role, as the wounded healer who helps women and children escape the war zones of "domestic" hate that phrase violence, and fleeing her own abusive husband. It's an understated, yet powerful, portrayal of a widely under reported blight on society. It's a shame this film <more>
hasn't received the attention and acclaim it deserves, as it's fraught with tension throughout, presents in an empathic and sensitive way and is really engaging. Interpersonal violence is still a misunderstood and under resourced issue that hasn't ever been tackled effectively, certainly not in the uk. We are losing 3 women and 2 children a week to their perpetrators, yet are losing shelters every month that could save lives. Films like this explore the possibility of a world where it could be different.
I wish all domestic abuse victims could find justice such as the movie portrayed but sadly that's not the case. Thumbs up
Great movie on an uncomfortable topic (by huntforpickles)
An oppressed woman finds herself and her revenge. Slow moving and painful for some but perhaps it was meant to reflect the agony of a long abusive relationship. Abuse is uncomfortable to watch, but please wake up; it goes on all around us! Women protagonist bother "some audiences." But I do find it quite interesting that an oppressed male protagonist that finds revenge in the end of MANY blockbuster movies are praised and generally rated quite highly. I say enough with the "A** kicking male movies" as well as car chases. This was a unique film with an interesting plot and <more>
