| If Robert Deniro wasn't so involved in giving his political views that some people didn't agree with. So for that someone took the trouble to bash this funny gem that kept my Interest the entire time unlike most movies that come out that make me fall asleep. It's a sad fact but its so obvious.Now for a short but 'honest' review. Deniro was his usual genius self and goes from serious to funny in a heartbeat without effort. Edy Falco kept up and had great chemistry with Deniro. The story was interesting and kept me awake. |

| Robert De Niro gives yet another performance of a lifetime in this original and superb film. Under the expert direction of Taylor Hackford, a wonderful cast of veteran actors shine but it is De Niro who triumphs. | I was really surprised. Didn't expect this kid of role would suit Robert, but it worked out. It's not a movie that tries to show the main character as a pro comedian but still delivers more that other movies with similar story. Usually the cringe is really strong with those but there I really enjoyed every moment. Robert showed Louis CK how to act. Don't get me wrong, I love everything Louis makes but he is not an actor. They should definitely work together. |

| This film was funny, insightful, very, very well written, and was made for adults. My guess is that a lot of very weak millennials, with no understanding of humor, who take themselves way too seriously, were responsible for all of the poor ratings, and reviews. They cannot be taken seriously. They know nothing about classic humor, which this film paid tribute to, in a wonderful way. It was raw, it was nasty, it was crude. A comedian that's never been too popular unscripted, a daddy's girl with an attitude, and an obsessive father... | I suppose an actor, if he seeks longevity, should be flexible enough to do any kind of role. However, it was really disheartening to see Robert De Niro in movies like "Meet the Fockers." It's not that he wasn't funny, but his character was about an inch deep. Now his role in "Jackie Brown" as Samuel L. Jackson's washed up partner-in- crime was a notable exception. | What's the matta wit you? I am puzzled by all the negative reviews. Yes, it's not The King of Comedy, or Goodfellas. But this movie was funny. De Niro's character Jackie was a 3-dimensional and human portrayal, and doesn't deserve to be dismissed as "another De Niro phoning it in" performance. The scenes where he performs stand-up comedy were genuinely funny. | I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting too much from this one, due to some withering reviews on here and also De Niro's recent track record.His character, Jackie Burke, is an insult comic who had a hit many years ago with a sitcom.
