advanced apologizes for spelling and grammar - I'm aware that I am unskilled currently in the area of writing properly. This movie was very "read between the lines" in my opinion. It may have points that don't add up to the viewer because those scenes would have wasted time. For example, the head mistress was aware of Alex's telekinesis from the beginning when she smirked at Alex after knocking over the blood samples. + I believe that the writer may have wanted to do more with the powers of the girls but at the same time thought it was perfect that it was unclear and <more>
not used throughout all the characters. If they are supposed to be teenagers that are disposable by their parents why would a viewer automatically assume they'd know everything about themselves, especially at a time they are being patronized and held against their will. - I think they should of broke out sooner yet sometimes that isn't the first reaction that everyone has nor does it advance a plot in all situations. + HOT GIRLS wait HOT TALENTED ACTRESSES! +/- That the demon doesn't go after the girls he needs as the cost of his freedom, the demon went after the weakest will'd in order. In a way it isn't clear yet in another it is. Hence "BE CAREFUL WITH HOPE ITS A TRICK THE DEVIL WILL PLAY". The demon killed all those who had the most hope. Alex gave up on hope after being stabbed, hence "SOMEONE TAKES SOMETHING FROM YOU, YOU TAKE IT RIGHT BACK." - Connie's possession was something my mind couldn't break down. + quick and to the point - that the girls aren't questioning why their is only five of them there - unclear why legion has came for the girl in the beginnings soul, especially when she was the strongest faithed in the movie - yet was also used as a patty to the "bad guys" in the movie was it the strength of their hope that conjured such evil, was it their evil that poisoned her soul that made god test her faith, was she used to test the fathers fate, the priests fate, the sisters fate, and was it her that the girls with powers hoped to save? + In all its a light hearted horror flick that has a fantastic cast of actresses who I hope pull some more roles and includes three acclaimed actors/actress which were stern. I of coarse loved it and will vote a full 10 because "I AM"
I thought the movie had great humor, good suspense, it captured my emotions, and it had a good story line. I enjoyed the variety of characters in the film. One thing I thought could have improved it would be; a bigger budget, cause the effects in some instances didn't make you believe. I'm surprised that with having Ron Perlman in the film a larger budget wasn't included. The movie almost gives an opportunity for a sequel. The sequel could be a chance for a team of 5 to stand up to the Legion and defeat him. Tasha Currie was a great actor in this film, I hope to see her in many <more>
Highly underrated if mildly flawed effort (by kannibalcorpsegrinder)
Sent to a Christian reformatory school, a young teen finds that the other women there are just like her, gathered together by an ancient prophecy to open the long-closed gates to other dimensions home to ravenous demons, and that they have to stop it before they can arrive on Earth. This one was a really above-average film. One of the finer aspects of this one is the fact that this one changes the way a possession takes place which is a nice specialty. Rather than being able to take control of anyone, this one stipulates rules that the incredibly religious are off-limits, for it won't work <more>
on them. Through the use of voodoo, a pentagram and Latin spells, the demon comes forth and the victim becomes possessed which is quite different, and although it doesn't really go together since all of them conflict with each other, they do make for a fantastic scene. The location of the fighting also works, since the place is really creepy. The majority of this comes from the backstory given here that offers up a rather strong and impressive religious-based storyline that works in not only regular religious outcomes but also brings together several different setups into the main setup. Including the voodoo aspects of the scenes in the attic featuring their battle with the various students possessed by the demons which not only has the payoff from the beginning but adds in some more fun to be had with the final showdown being a long, action-packed feature that contains so many different ways to stay enjoyable that the film ultimately gets incredibly fun and exciting. Added together with the fine makeup on the ghosts as some of them can be quite shocking and get a few jolts, these here really make the film enjoyable. This one doesn't do a whole lot wrong, but there are a few problems with it. The first flaw is that the film doesn't capitalize on several key areas as well as it should. The fact that most of the gore comes from non-lethal wounds or aftermath is slightly puzzling as there's a whole amount of deaths that result from the demon jumping into another body and the previous host collapsing with nothing graphic happening. This really should've been the case where it really amps up the gore to detail the different outcomes of the demons' attacks, which really could've provided this one with some more fun to be had with the more obvious destruction of the bodies. That really could've helped the few actual deaths even more. The other missed opportunity is the closet lesbianism on display. There are a few nods here and there towards it, but hardly anything occurs of it and a little extra sleaze would've been fine. The last flaw is that the body-hopping demon is such a cliché and done to death. This little trick comes into play in other films way too often, and this one is just the same. These here keep the film down somewhat.Rated R: Graphic Language, Graphic Violence and Brief Nudity
This is the best parody ever. It has an alcoholic priest, lots of Hail Marys, short skirts, pentagrams, spanking with a cane, nude girls with tits and nipple showing, a secret floor, lots of blood, a mistaken demon that believes there are 2000 in a legion, whereas it is between 4200 and 5200 and not to forget girls kissing. No wet t-shirts though, but, hey- there are both bathing and toilet scenes. What more could one desire? Special effects perhaps, you think - but there are: Flying demons, raising of the dead, healing, gore, demon puke, skeletons, ghosts....Oh, boy. But do not pay more than <more>
i watched this movie repeatedly 3nights in a row & still haven't got enough (by harindri2002)
in the beginning i thought this movie is going to be just another ghost story but soon i found out that this movie has something extra special in it. the actors have done a GREAT job. i didn't even feel them as "acting" because it was looking so natural. well in the, beating with the ruler scene the make up artist should have applied more blusher to Alex to show she's really in huge pain . the actresses chosen for the characters Mara & head mistress are perfect well though jordan madley didn't have the look of a teenager she's good for the rough, tough, bad girl <more>
character . normally nudity is there in almost every horror movie & most of the time its there very unnecessarily but in this movie nudity is used very efficiently no unnecessary nudity scenes it was there only when its really needed. after watching this movie i became a HUUUGE fan of jordan madley.her character made me glued to the movie i had a slight hint that she'll somehow win the battle against the ghost because she's the tough girl among all of them. the writer has done a very good job in adding humor to the dialogs in a very natural way its not an easy task to add horror, thrills & humor at the same time & succeed in it .i was laughing a lot for some scenes & dialogs of Cecilia's as well as mara's.well this movie didn't scare me off much but why i like this movie is because it looked soo natural & the sweetness of teenage life is shown very nicely their dialogs and their reactions on the things happening around them . the Pentagram scene should have made with much thrills because i didn't find it scary well finally i say that like all the other 5ive girls fans i too expecting a squeal for this movie where there is alex & mara.
