This film was one of many that has you reaching for it because of the intense film poster. And it did for me. I was not disappointed with the film and can't wait to see it again. I viewed it on Blu-Ray and it was by far the best way to see it. The film itself has the usual hot babes in it and the normal types of guys who are out for a good time with them. Not your typical American Pie theme but a film that tells the tale from the beginning and draws you into it's clutches by the middle and then reaches a climax that even I wasn't expecting. All I am willing to give away here is <more>
that you should never underestimate the sexy brunette who looks so innocent. All fans of this genre will not be disappointed. I gave it 10 out of 10. I hope you will enjoy it too.
I like that this movie is not like other horror films. Not the standard wearing a mask type, this is about gold old fashioned revenge and mystery. As a result we get a story that feels more human and grounded, but also interesting and wanting to get to the bottom of it.Sometimes people aren't nice to people in real life, and sometimes that can come with devastating consequences. I feel this movie explores that well.Never had an issue with any acting or writing. I felt the story was well told. This is UK movie so American's like me may find certain words silly. We have different uses for <more>
There is a costume party going on with a bunch of cool kids. Felix Tom Kane has a crush on Gemma Florence Hall and wants to ask her out. He is a shy dweeb and doesn't have a costume ...unless dweeb is a costume. Luke Alexander Vlahos is the party specialist who fixes Felix up with a white line of instant courage. Gemma turns him down as she is dating Chris Jack Gordon . An altercation happens while playing "Truth or Dare" where Chris slugs Felix.Later, the gang which includes the over sexed Eleanor Jennie Jacques and her boyfriend Paul Liam Boyle , one of those rare <more>
guys who can fall asleep right after doing a line of coke, head out to the country to celebrate Felix's birthday. They are greeted by Justin David Oakes , Felix's brother and ex-soldier, who has his own ideas on how to play "Truth or Dare."I enjoyed what the Brits did to this common theme, geek kid humiliated/revenge slasher film. Good sound track. Good action. Jennie Jacques reminded me of Fairuza Balk during her slutty roles. Good abduction/torture style movie.Parental guide: F-bomb, sex, girls kissing, drugs/alcohol use
Intensely Explosive and Emotionally Draining (by jlthornb51)
Director Robert Heath delivers a stunning character study within the horror film format and he does so with unequaled artistry and complete aplomb. A truly talented cast does remarkable work in delivering some power house performances, with Florence Hall sparkling like a super nova in what should be a break-out acting turn of incredible power. The tension is overwhelming as the story progresses but it's the insights regarding the nature of humanity and whether evil predominates that truly mesmerizes. Shocking in parts and even repellent at times, these elements are never gratuitous and <more>
always propel the film. The ultimate scene is a climax of such intensity that it must be viewed to be believed. This is an important film, one that in fact needed to be made, and one that deserves to be widely seen in a worldwide re-release.
We've seen this sort of film many times before, a small group of youthful guys and girls turn up at a mysterious mansion, and those who survive wish they'd stayed at home. Well, yes, but this one is not more of the same. "Truth Or Die" has had some poor and some not so good reviews, but a lot of people liked it, and it is indeed a superior offering. The group in question are a bunch of upper class wasters, they are invited to the birthday party of the son of an extremely wealthy family, a loner who had been the butt of ridicule at an earlier party as we are shown here, only <more>
when they turn up they are met not by Felix but by his brother Justin, who is a well-muscled soldier back from Afghanistan, not his first tour. The alpha-female of the group takes an instant liking to him, but things soon turn nasty when they are informed not just that their host won't be joining them but that he can't. What happens next will surprise you, there is more than one twist in the tale, suffice to say that it is the women who wear the trousers. David Oakes shines as the psychopath bent on revenge, and the other performances are equally persuasive.
This i thought from the moment it began that it would be yet another one of these indi horror film that tries to make a point about the world we live in. That being said i was pleasantly surprised with the overall story. spoiler alertthere was a moment towards the end of the film were you think who is wrong here, and you begin to swap sides briefly. but by the end of the film when the final deed is done. Well it left me slightly thinking and excuse my language but what a tremendous bitch she is. she was the cause of the film, and she was for some reason the winner at the end.Ahh well good <more>
film and the one i thought was the main character all the way through. well she just wasn't not even slightly.
Damn!! It was really worth watching! (by sarahlizparker)
Watched it last night and it really surprised me. There were moments I covered my mouth because of the scares caused by the tensed and crazy events. ** spoiler alert** Toward the end, when Eleanor is having the conversation between the brothers, I thought he was being abused by his brother but then, she mentioned the tape, that was supposed to be a joke, I was suspecting a mini gay plot somehow, don't ask me where I took that idea from, I just did. But I wasn't absolutely sure of it of course until the last moment, then the revelation came and I was like "I knew it", it <more>
couldn't be just about that, it had to have something else. He was absolutely high and when you're on drugs you're not really yourself. I really liked Luke and Justin characters' but I must admit I enjoyed the most of Jennie Jacques' character Eleanor, she made a difference in the end. I'll totally pass it along to my friends to watch it, because 4 me it was worth it.!!!
A Clever Film, but small flaws (by alexmarkwheeldon)
I thought that this film was well planned, and for the most part well executed. The story is simple, a university party, which entailed a game of Truth or Dare ended in a bust up, and the result meant revenge was needed. Five friends are called to a party, hosted by the punched boy. His brother invites them in, and all hell breaks loose. the story itself was very clever, meaning that there were many different moments which left me wondering what was going to happen next. I could never guess who was going to die, or live. The twists and turns of the plot left it clear in my mind that guessing <more>
what was going to happen was not an option. Yet, in the end, I could see clearly what had happened.I think that one of the biggest praises in this film has to go to the actors. Having a small cast I found 3 outstanding young Actors, who I shall definitely be looking for in the future. Firstly, is David Oakes, playing Felix's brother, Justin. The character had many depths and levels, and as he unwound it was interesting, and surprisingly believable, and credible. The second is Alexander Vlahos, who played self acclaimed 'Partybot' Luke. His character showed a change and twist which was effortlessly portrayed by the young actor. Thirdly, and finally, the most credit deserves to go to Jennie Jacques, whose role as Eleanor made my skin crawl, and at the same time I was rooting for. Her character was a well rounded, sexy, bitchy, and yet incredible to watch. Look out for this girl, because I bet she will be huge in a few years. Overall, I think that this film, whilst having notable budget issues, has a clear story which is twisted, and makes for a competent film well worth the watch
