Disregard other reviews. Watch this movie. You will laugh out loud non stop (by Lampinerryday420)
Now i never ever have written a review for anything. But this movie was so funny that i got on here created an account just to tell everybody that this movie is by far the funniest film I've seen in the last 5 years. Its legit laugh out loud material. Ron Burgundy stays killin it as usual. If you don't think this movie is funny, then YOU don't know funny. Its like all the reviews saying this movie is so over the top it had too many jokes it was a disappointment is like going to the strip club and then saying that it had to many boobies inside and it was over the top and a <more>
disappointment. I just don't get how anybody could not be comically satisfied after watching this film.
A worthy sequel to a hilarious movie! (by aleapug)
After seeing the first "Anchorman" at a test screening, i was in stitches, as the style of comedy was what i liked. While some disliked it, it still has had a following, being the film that boosted Ferrell's career. Recently, i saw this sequel, and it was absolutely hilarious, almost outdoing the first! Everyone gives in an absolutely hilarious and stellar performance. With even more cameos than in the first. The cast has become bigger also, with many love interests and funny characters like the first. It has many surprises, but i won't spoil it. If you liked the first film, <more>
and if you like other Will Ferrell films, you will also love Anchorman 2.
Delivers the goods in such abundance they're spilling out of the bag! (by psychogoatee)
Anchorman 2 is one hell of a film, it's comedy heaven. This for me is pretty much the most anticipated sequel I can recall, such a unique and wonderful flavor and character, I needed a new helping of it. I of course wasn't sure if they could match the original, but they did it! Those crazy bastards actually pulled it off! For me this is the best comedy out there, it's incredibly funny, countless great jokes, and the overall feel and the fun plot are just a joy to take in. This movie is like porn for the Anchorman fan, it's Ron Burgundy porn, can I give it any higher praise? I <more>
love the random absurd Ron quotations, from the whole crew really, hit after hit here, it all works. Plus that it's two hours long and I could've stayed for another two hours, for me this is the epic of comedies.Pretty much, it's a comedy, it pays homage to the original but still packs plenty of surprises that I didn't see coming, and all in all is one of the best movies ever made oddly enough. You know you want to see it. Thumbs way way up, Anchorman triumphant!
One of the finest examples of absurdist comedy since, well, the first Anchorman movie (by jmoney-2)
We all know sequels are usually not as good as the original. But this is especially true when it comes to comedy sequels. A joke just isn't as funny the second time you hear it. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, proves the exception to the rule. While the first film began as a send-up of local TV news in the '70s and broadened out from there to include surreal battles with grizzly bears , the second installment starts as a parody of the early days of cable news. It picks up where the 2004 original left off, with Ron Burgundy Will Ferrell and wife Veronica Corningstone Christina <more>
Applegate anchoring a network newscast. When he's suddenly fired, and his wife is simultaneously promoted, Ron goes into a tailspin and lands back in San Diego as the emcee at a Sea World-like attraction. An offer from a start-up 24-hour news channel prompts him to get back in the news business, and he sets out to reassemble his old team: reporter Brian Fantana Paul Rudd , sports anchor Champ Kind David Koechner and weatherman Brick Tamland Steve Carell .Ferrell and his co-writer and frequent collaborator Adam McKay -- who also directs the movie -- don't just recycle old jokes from the first film. Instead, they explore new comedic territory. We get to see how Ron behaves as a father as he tries to reconnect with his son following his split from Veronica. Hint: it doesn't go smoothly. There's also a great subplot this time around for Carell, as his dimwitted character finds love with an equally brainless co-worker Kristen Wiig .Ferrell and McKay also find much to parody when it comes to Ron's new medium. In one sequence, Burgundy – in a single hour-long newscast – invents every bad cable news cliché. Like the original, however, Anchorman 2 is not merely a news satire. It spends most of its time going off in several funny, unpredictable directions. I won't spoil any of the laughs or surprises, but two-thirds of the way through there's a twist that's not just out of left field, it's out of the parking lot behind the bleachers. You won't see it coming.Anchorman 2 is one of the finest examples of absurdist comedy since, well, the first Anchorman movie. There are moments so hilariously bizarre, they would make the Monty Python troupe proud. It took nine years to bring this sequel to the screen. It was definitely worth the wait.
Fans of the First Anchorman will Not be Disappointed, (by lesleyharris30)
Anchorman 2: the Legend Continues is a fantastic movie with a great and hilarious storyline that will keep you laughing from start to finish. Will Ferrell,Christina Applegate,Steve Carell,Paul Rudd and David Koechner are all back for this sequel that has been highly anticipated since the movies release in 2004,and after this long wait and all the promoting the cast have been doing,I was very nervous about this film, and I can honestly say I wasn't a bit disappointed. The new members of the cast, including a tone of outstanding cameos, are all great, the best newcomer for me would have to be <more>
Kristen Wiig, she did a great and very funny job a Bricks love interest, who is just as stupid as he is.There is also an outstanding scene that is similar to the News Channel fight in the first Anchorman, but it's much bigger and much better, and filled with some outstanding and unexpected actors. If you're a fan of the first Anchorman and had high hopes for this sequel, trust me, you won't be disappointed, the first one is certainly better but this one is just as good and one of the most pleasing comedy sequels to date. After Ron Burgundy Will Ferrell is fired from his News network and replaced by Veronica Corningstone Christina Applegate ,he separates from her and gets his old news team together after a huge offer to join GNN,a twenty hour news network, unknown to Ron and his friends that they would change the history of the news anchoring forever.Best Performance: Will Ferrell Worst Performance: Judah Nelson
Anchorman 2: It's kind of a big deal (by slicedbread117)
The original Anchorman will forever be my favorite comedy of all-time. A sequel had been rumored for so long and the fans wanted it so bad, that Will Ferrell finally decided to green light the project and announce the return of Ron Burgundy. As one of the most anticipated movies of 2013, Anchorman 2 delivers in nearly every way I had hoped. WARNING: Possible minor spoiler ahead, but if you've seen trailers or the first Anchorman, you should expect it anyway. We all know that Anchorman was one giant piece of hilarious, over-the- top nonsense and that the sequel was most likely going to be <more>
the same. This time around, Ron Burgundy and company are even more insane and unpredictable than before. The movie kept me laughing for nearly the entire film, never leaving a dull moment. The jokes kept coming and there were enough homages to the first film that left myself feeling completely satisfied and entertained throughout. It's the way that Anchorman 2 is able to deliver so many different types of humor in so many different ways that makes it such a special film, much like the first. Director and writer Adam McKay once again was able to find his magic touch with Will Ferrell to create another gut-busting comedy and more importantly, one that was able to live up to the expectations of the first film, a comedy classic. I expected nothing but the biggest laughs from this movie and it delivered on all The main cast returns to play their respective roles on the famous news team, now working for the Global News Network. Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy rightfully takes the spotlight as a comedy magician on the screen, but maybe even getting more of the laughs from me was arguably my favorite actor ever in Steve Carell, once again playing mentally challenged Brick Tamland. Ferrell was a delight to watch as usual, but Carell had me chuckling before he even said his lines, just in the way he delivered his character. Gold stars both to Ferrell and Carell for their deeply humorous performances. The news team wouldn't be complete, however, without Brian Fantana and Champ Kind played by Paul Rudd and David Koechner respectively. Though their roles were lesser overall in this film, when they're on screen, they, as always, were a hilarious treat to watch. Christina Applegate returns to play Veronica Corningstone and James Marsden signs on to play antagonist Jack Lime, and both do solid jobs.I couldn't do this review without going through the most bizarre scene on the film; the battle of the news stations part 2. At a time where the movie didn't need this scene whatsoever, every news team imaginable assembles to battle whatever it is out and the cameo list is impressive, diverse and hilarious to say the least. Although the scene seemed forced in, the absurdity and craziness of the entire thing was able to make up for the bad timing by leaps and bounds. If there are any signs of weakness in this film it would only be that a few jokes felt incomplete and a little dry, and again, the movie ran longer than it needed too and despite the hilarity behind its reasoning, the movie dragged at the end.Anchorman 2 might be a huge ball of chaotic hilarity, and some people might not enjoy it as much as I did. Coming from a die hard Anchorman fan, if you liked the first film even a little or have any interest in Will Ferrell at all, this movie will speak wonders to you. It's wonderfully delivered dialogue by a large and talented cast had me leaning over laughing on several occasions, and the movie is just simply a very funny comedy in general. Anchorman 2 is the sequel everyone asked for, and Ron Burgundy returns classier than ever to continue his legendary run.9/10
Sick to death of reading reviews starting with 'I was a massive fan of the first movie', well this isn't the first movie, its a different movie, stop comparing them! Anchorman received a big cult following for a reason, it was hilarious, awkward, weird and completely random in places. It has to to be said its one of my favorite ever comedies. But seriously!? What did you expect, something completely different? No! I didn't! I didn't want something completely different. I wanted more Ron burgundy, and plenty more brick tamland, which is what we got. Personally loved the <more>
film and cant understand why anybody didn't enjoy the original wouldn't like it too unless you seem to think a movie called Anchorman 2, yes thats 2, needed to be something completely new and off the wall . Sometimes think people need to get there head out there arse and just watch a film for the pure entertainment purposes it was made for.Rant over. 8/10.
A hilariously silly and ridiculously absurd comedy eruption that was worth the wait. (by scarlettcurtis)
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues - Film ReviewThe news team is back, and it's kind of a big deal! The highly anticipated sequel to the cult phenomenon, Anchorman, is finally here after a nine year hiatus and see's Will Ferrell reprise his most memorable role as eccentric newscaster, Ron Burgundy. And yes, with salon quality hair! The film is everything you'd expect from the comedy pairing of Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, and although not as good as the first film, it certainly has its moments with a fresh new storyline and an abundance of hilarious jokes. The film is just as silly <more>
as you'd hope, with Steve Carell saying 'There's little rhyme or reason to this world and that's what makes it so funny.'. With perms, a werewolf, ice skating jazz flute, a pet shark and Harrison Ford the film truly is, in the words of Carell and Paul Rudd, 'absurd', 'ridiculous' and 'inexplicable', that won't leave fans disappointed as one of the best comedies of the year.We pick up the story years on from the first film where, after hitting rock bottom and with the seventies over, the legendary news team reunite to take on New York City and the worlds first twenty four hour news network.Despite the film dragging in parts, the thing that really makes this movie is of course, what can only be described as, a truly flawless cast and the extraordinary characters they portray. The actors all expressed their deep admiration and love of working with one another, which comes through in their performances, and is a real joy to watch. The highlight of the film; however, is the climax which is quite simply mind blowing in its arsenal of heavyweight Hollywood actors, featuring cameo appearances from Harrison Ford, Sacha Baron Cohen, Will Smith and even Kanye West to name just a few from the explosion of talent. The only people they couldn't get were Oprah and president Obama!Ferrell's performance as Burgundy is bigger and better than ever with as much ignorance and narcissism as we've all come to love and admire. The other stand out performance of the film is Steve Carell as brainless weatherman Brick Tamland that is effortlessly delivered and simply hysterical. In one of the more touching moments of the film Brick finds love with an identically unintelligent character played by Kristen Wiig, leaving the nice message that there's someone out there for everyone. This storyline isn't without humor featuring a date at a vending machine, but that's definitely not for everyone!Harrison Ford's appearance in the film takes the concept of a deadpan performance to a whole new level of supremacy, which is sure to make you laugh, and adds to the weight of the already marvelous cast. Ferrell laughed 'He Ford hasn't seen the first Anchorman and I don't think he has any intention of seeing this one either!'. Carell stated his disappointment for not getting the chance to meet the Indiana Jones star with Adam McKay joking they 'banned him from the set.' and producer Judd Apatow adding 'Yeah, f**k that Steve Carell!'. All joking of course! Ferrell also discussed how the filmmaking process involves a large amount of improvisation. Carell commented how 'An environment was created in which we could venture off into the land of improv.'. Christina Applegate, who plays ambitious news anchor Veronica Corningstone, recalls the first cut being 'over three hours long' and the films director, Adam McKay, has expressed his intention of releasing a second cut of Anchorman 2, featuring 'the same plot and storyline but with entirely different jokes.'.When asked if another Anchorman film was in the pipeline Ferrell concluded that following The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter there'd be 'at least fourteen' Anchorman films! The producers even hinted at the possibility of a Step Brothers sequel, reuniting Ferrell with John C. Reilly, something that McKay says will 'definitely' happen again. So with that, another cut of Anchorman 2 and twelve more sequels there's much to look forward to from these comedy titans.Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hits UK cinemas December 18th and is the comedy to watch this Christmas.
A great sequel, worthy of the original, and the best comedy choice of this season! (by Big_D_Box_Office_Score)
Anchorman 2 is the sequel to the 2004 hit, and rare sequel to any of Will Ferrell's movies. The big concern with comedy sequels is always getting the 2nd film to measure up to the first. But Ferrell and co. have pulled it off.Anchorman 2 is pure silly fun at its best. The story of Ron Burgendy and his team getting a new gig on a national news network is really just a platform to give us more News Team wackiness. And I'm not complaining. The comedy is right up to par with the first movie. While the 1st movie may have had more consistent laughs from start to finish, the sequel has a few <more>
scenes that just blow the comedy level through the roof. Friendly advice - avoid looking at the casting list until after you see it. The surprise cameos in here are devastatingly funny. Ferrell, playing arguably one of his best characters, nails his job, as does Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Steve Carell. They play so well off of each other, it makes the scenes they share stand out. And did you know Meagan Good was in this? I may have to re-evaluate my Top 5 Crush list...she is SMOKING HOT, without really trying...Is it perfect? No. Definitely hits a slow point towards the 2nd half of the movie, but the final 20-30 minutes are a great pay-off. Is it better than the first movie? That's debatable, it could go either way, depending on your taste. But is this the comedy you need to see this holiday season? YES. Sorry, Grudge Match...I would have given that title to you before seeing this... Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues scores a 4.25 out of 5 on the BDBOS. STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS!!! There is a scene at the end of it. It's...well...it's a scene...Stay classy, internet. Hey guys, thanks for checking out my review. I mean, you probably checked out some other reviews here too, I probably wasn't even your first, but that's cool with me. I'm cool with an open relationship here.
